Tuna have made their late season appearance and some of our boats are taking advantage of the later bite and running later trips such as the “Game Changer” and the “Talkin’ Trash” who will return later tonight and will not make this report, but check back tomorrow. Seven yellow fin found a new home in the fish box on the “Foolish Pleasures” today with Captain Dale Lisi. Captain Ed Kauffman on the “Jade II” returned today with a big eye and a handful of decent yellowfin. More tuna were seen on the “Moore Bills” with Captain Rob Skillman who returned with 3 very nice yellow fin tuna. Today on the “Wrecker” Captain Jeremy Blunt had 2 yellow fin, and Captain Chris W on the “Spring Mix II” had as single. For a few of our boats today fishing was dedicated to the OC Marlin Club Challenage cup. One of those boats the “Top Dog” with Captain Todd Dickerson and Captain Ryan Knapp returned to report a white marlin release and an aggressive, “toothy” mystery bite. Another boat the “Haulin’ n Ballin” also released a white and killed a few tuna. We couldn’t forget about the dolphin who showed up in high numbers last week and are still here and Captain Ron Taylor found one and had some wahoo action as well.
Flounder fishing at the wrecks has remained steady. Captain John Prather on the “OC Guide Service” returned from a four hour trip with 7 keeper flounder and reported plenty of other throwbacks. Don’t be fooled there are still flounder in the bay! Captain Cale Layton on the “Bay Bee” managed to find a keeper and reported ample throwbacks!
